Euney & Charlton

Euney and Charton’s backyard wedding was something different. They had a full wedding planned, but they had to call off their original date due to COVID-19. Their venue then offered a quick ceremony and a few snapshots in a hotel that they owned as well. Then this new, and much smaller, event was also cancelled a few days before it had a chance to happen because of the protest schedule in Philadelphia. So with two cancellations, and a handful of family in town for the hotel ceremony, E & C decided to just get married across the street from their own home, in a grassy lot that their neighbors allowed them to use. Since their photographer was linked to the venue, photography was out… That’s when one of the last few guests relayed the story to a co-worker, who happened to be my wife, Jess. With 48 hours notice, I charged up my dusty gear and headed to Pennsylvania. Along with 8 guests, the bride and groom, and a laptop with their zoom attendees, a wedding took place. Beautiful and intimate, they married themselves on a hot June day.

After the ceremony, and a few snacks, we drove around looking for a park to shoot portraits. After two closed locations and construction traffic, we pulled over, found locations, and made it happen. What an honor to be part of this love story. I’ve been through a lot of these life changing events, but a wedding, is a wedding, is a wedding. This works, it’s amazing, and I hope more couples do it like this… —m
